LUDINGTON, MI - We love being back on the Lake Michigan shoreline, especially if it means hanging out with the crew of the S.S. Badger: Lake Michigan Carferry, which began a new season.
What is it like to sail on the Badger?
On this episode, we'll tell you all about it, including all the cool things you can do on the boat during your trip including that famous BADGER BINGO.
Marketing manager Shelby Soberalski joins us again to share the history and the FUN. (You can listen to her talk about what the Badger means to the Ludington in the above clip. Full show below.)
The boat certainly doesn't run by itself, and as the last coal-fired passenger steamship left in the United States, it takes a lot of love, but also a lot of knowledge. We have Andy Van Velde, the Badger's chief engineer on to share just what it's like taking care of a living piece of history. And we also talk to captain Mike Martin.
The highlight of the show? Listening to our very own Amy Sherman do her signature "SS Badger!" call.
